Well. Today I say goodbye to one of my favorite places in Winter Park. I wish to see Luma at another location. What a great concept and excellent hospitality spirit! LUMA means Love U Much Appetizingly.
A nice little treat as we crawled along Park Ave enjoying tapas and wine along the way. Would have also been a great stop for a long, romantic dinner. The ambiance is upscale and comfortable, along with a great menu. We sat at the bar and I loved the wine selection and wedge side salad.
Very exquisite! The restaurant itself is beautiful, our server Robert was great and very knowledgeable and gave us some excellent recommendations. The food was delicious! Portions are a bit smaller than average but still satisfying and overall great atmosphere, definitely one of my favorites on the ave.
So... we didn't eat here but decided to come in to the bar for a drink. It's a nicely laid out space with couches, high tops, and comfortable bar seats. The bartender, Sean, is awesome and after being there awhile we learned it was his first night back after he missed work for awhile due to an injury. Well, he didn't miss a beat! After looking through the wine menu we were clueless and did not know any of the wines offered. Sean offered us a few tastings so we could decide. I opted for the Zinfandel (Sidebar) and my boyfriend went for the California Cabernet Eberle . A couple next to us totally enjoyed their burger and fries which looked yummy. We had a great time spent talking with Sean about numerous topics and then went on our way. I would definitely return here to try the food but I might stay at the bar because Sean was that sweet!
Magical Dining at it's FINEST! A group of 3 couples making the rounds for Magical Dining and we landed at Luma where they also offer a "Magical Pairing" of wines for $20 to compliment each course you select....what a treat! The wines were amazing and paired perfectly with each ITEM on the Magical Menu! Yes, 3 full glasses of wine, one for each course...only $20 and magnificent selections from Argentina, Austria and New Zealand. The Flat Iron steak with potato purée was superbly seasoned and cooked to a perfectly seared medium rare. My pals were thrilled! I had the moistest, most tender and scrumptiously saucy chicken breast ever! Served with perfectly prepared broccolini, it was an extremely generous portion. We each had the chocolate custard for dessert with the special pairing recommendation of our gracious and knowledgeable server, Cedric. What a perfect evening! Luma on Park is THE best, hands down!
I was really impressed with my recent visit to Luma on Park. I visited during Magical Dining Month, where they have a fixed price menu for $35, so my experience did cost less than it might on a traditional weekend. That being said, our waiter informed us that year round they have a fixed price menu on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights! So that's definitely something to check out if you want to try out this restaurant at a lower price point. The food and service here were both exceptional. The food is seasonal, with the menu making an almost complete refresh every few months (we were told). I had the heirloom squash soup to start, which was good, but probably the least exciting thing I had all night. I would have liked it to have a bit more of the spices come through. It was good, but a little bland. The main dish though--it was a small strip steak--this was fantastic. It was cooked exactly like we asked, with the best, really flavorful marinade. It came with a potato puree (more puree than mashed potato-like), and cooked vegetables (zucchini and summer squash). The potatoes weren't too runny, which is frequently an issue in potato puree. Finally, the dish was finished with a balsamic glaze. The entire combination was heaven. The night finished with a chocolate mousse, which was outstanding. The mousse itself wasn't too sweet at all, it was more of a dark chocolate mousse. And it had this delicious toffee & oreo-like crumble accompanying it, which helped take the sweetness to a nice but not overwhelming level. I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed my meal here. The service was great as well--no course arriving too late or too early. I can't wait to return again!
Wonderful restaurant for a special occasion. My husband selected this place after a few friends recommended it for an anniversary dinner. The inside is gorgeous and the staff was very friendly but not intrusive. The croquettas were amazing. I grew up with Basque food around me, and this version was an amazing twist to the classic. I'll definitely back.
Love Luma on Park. It's a great place for any occasion. They just came out with these delicious cauliflower croquettes. I just wish that they were bigger or at least more on the plate. The butternut squash raviolis were also very good but I would never order them again because it only comes with four or five quarter size raviolis. And for the price with was not worth it. Especially since I make raviolis at home. If I could only order two things off the menu I would order the White Linen cocktail and the Cheese and Charcuterie Board. I think it's the best thing on their menu and worth the price.
Ok so before you eat, wash your hands. This bathroom is like a spaceship. The door and sink are amazing. Ok so the food. Not cheap, but very good. I had a monster steak. MONSTER. Also I ate a wedge salad with blue cheese and I do not like blue cheese. That is how good it was. The drinks are STIFF. The service was on point. Loved it.
A modern, sleek restaurant with a welcome feel that specializes in farm-to-table dishes and an ever changing menu. Feeling a little of that Winter Park swag and hunting for the ideal place to take a nice date, have a birthday dinner, or business celebration with some special people? Luma on Park will fit your birll. All of the dishes that I tried here were good, some great and some could've used a little tweaking but none of them were a miss. Luma works with local farmers and constructs and revises their menu daily to reflect the seasonal ingredients that they receive. While I'm sure there are some staples on the menu that barely change, keep in mind that what I post here might not even be on the menu when you visit. Truffle Popcorn - Part of their secret but not-so-secret menu, just ask and you shall receive! I was really excited to try this and it didn't disappoint. A little on the saltier side but if you want to treat yourself this is an extremely decadent popcorn. Buttery, truffle goodness ooze out of each popped kernel tossed with some chives and shaved parmesan. It is a strong popcorn, one of the strongest I've ever had and might be to strong in flavor for some, but I loved it. Now if I could only find a way to have them make it for me for my home movie nights... Pork Belly & Octopus w/ Mission Figs, Toasted Pistachio Butter and Blackberry Balsamic - Pork belly and octopus are always a good combo and then add in all the other things, my mouth was watering. This dish was good, but could've been even better. The thick, juicy slices of pork belly might have worked even better if cut into smaller chunks, letting the natural fat cook up as oil while mixing in the octopus pieces. Instead the pork belly and octopus looked like they were cooked and sliced separately then presented together. The octopus had a smokiness that I loved. The pistachio butter is almost like a peanut butter which went great with the blackberry balsamic, fresh blackberries and fresh mission figs. Overall very enjoyable but that cooked in pork belly might have been magical. Butcher's Blend Beef Burger w/ Bacon and Egg - A solid burger that is served with an egg anyway you like it (we opted for over easy), crisp bacon and onion jam. It was only an extra $3 for the bacon and egg (you get both for that price) and totally worth it. Snake River Farms Flank Steak w/ Red Lentil Puree, Heirloom Carrots, Grilled Eggplant and Cauliflower Vinaigrette - A good sized steak that was pre-sliced across the grain (as it should be). Salted and seasoned just right, the meat matched well with the vegetables and creamy cauliflower sauce. Minor issue was that I ordered the steak medium rare but a few of the center pieces were more rare than medium rare while the edges were medium/medium rare. I didn't notice until I tried to get my knife through it which met with some resistance. The service at Luma is top notch. Our server constantly checked on our water levels and brought us generous tasting pours for us to sample before we selected a glass of wine. What is nice about Luma's wine menu is that all of their wine offerings are available by the glass, half glass, or bottle. That's about 60 different wines that you can get by the glass! They also have some intriguing cocktails, but we stuck with wine for our meal. We had a wonderful evening at Luma. If you are looking for an elegant but modern dinner spot with a creative menu, Luma is worth bookmarking!
